Review: Zout removes baby spitup and formula stains

When I started my son on baby formula he started to spit up a lot. To my dismay, I found that the spitup changed to a shade of orange as it dried on his light-colored clothing. Fearing that his cute baby clothes would be ruined forever, I did a little bit of research online to learn about cleaning baby clothes. Although there were many different recommendations, I came across a few mentions of Zout, a product I had never heard of before. What caught my attention was the fact that the product has been around for a long time (over 40 years), and was originally developed to treat stains on doctors and nurses uniforms. If it could clean the kind of stuff that might be found in a medical setting, then this product must be exactly what I needed!

Zout spray removes baby spitup and formula.

Zout can be difficult to find, but luckily my local grocery store carried it. I bought a spray bottle and immediately set to work on my infant’s clothes. Following the directions on the bottle, I sprayed the stains and rubbed in the solution. Although it is recommended that you use the warmest water temperature that your laundry can handle, I was mixing in some items that required a cold wash. I wasn’t sure if the product would work since I wasn’t following the recommendations exactly, but I figured I had nothing to lose. I washed the clothing, making sure to set a second rinse (Zout’s enzymatic solution can be irritating to the skin, and I didn’t want to take any chances with my baby). After washing, I examined every item that had been stained, and to my delight the stains were absolutely gone! And the treatment did not harm any of the colored embroidery or colored fabrics that it came into contact with. It was as though Zout knew exactly what I needed to remove, and what needed to be left alone. I had also added cloth diapers (which I use as burp cloths) to the mix, and they came out whiter even though I had not specifically treated them. I have since treated stained items that have been washed and dried, and Zout still worked like magic on the stains!

Usually when it comes to cleaning products, it’s a trial and error process. I was so pleased to find something that worked on the first try. Now I never have to worry if my son gets spitup on himself or Mommy–I have been using Zout ever since to get stains out of our clothes. Learn more on the Zout website.
