My experience with Baby Wuv Inc.

Baby Formula

My son’s hypoallergenic formula really put a burden on us financially, and after the formula checks and coupons ran out I looked for any way I could to save a little extra money. Buying in bulk is often the best way to save, and I found that a company called Baby Wuv Inc. had the best deal on Nutramigen.

Baby Wuv Inc. has a simple and easy to navigate website. You will receive email updates regarding the status of your order, and you can track it online. Baby Wuv carries a vast selection of baby products, some personal care items and more. Shipping is free (via FedEx) for orders over $100, which is easily achieved when ordering formula in bulk. Formula can be ordered by the single can, or by the case. The Nutramigen I was looking for was available in cases of 6, 12 or 18. When ordering by the case, make sure you do the math to find the best deal. A case of 12 is slightly cheaper per can than a case of 6, but I have seen a case of 18 with a higher per-can cost than a case of 12 (although I just checked, and that’s not currently true). The prices fluctuate for some reason, so get out your calculator before you buy. When I first ordered, I saved an amazing $5.00 per can (compared to the price I would have paid at my grocery store), but the current savings is about $3.00 per can, and at times you may not save anything at all.

I had a difficult time finding any reviews or information about Baby Wuv Inc., but I decided to go out on a limb and give them a try. The first time I ordered from the company, I decided to purchase a case of 12 to get the best discount. The formula shipped out and arrived quickly. Upon opening the box, I discovered a problem; the package had been mishandled in shipment, and one of the cans had been dented so badly that it had burst open, spilling powder everywhere. An additional 3 cans were also dented, though not as badly. Since a dented can may potentially expose the formula to contaminants, I decided to play it safe and not use any of the damaged formula cans to feed my baby. Baby Wuv Inc. states on their website that they are dedicated to customer satisfaction, and would offer a full refund for defective products. I decided to take pictures of the damaged cans and email them to customer service. I was contacted promptly by the owner of the company who apologized and assured me that I would receive a full refund for the four damaged cans. The money was indeed credited to my account in due course. I was very happy with the customer service, and that is the sole reason I decided to order from the company again.

Although the box was clearly mishandled during shipment (I could tell that something heavy had collided with it), I felt that Baby Wuv Inc. could have done a better job of packaging my order. The box had space to spare and styrofoam peanuts provided the only cushion. For my next order I decided to purchase a case of 6 instead, believing that fewer cans would be more securely packaged. This proved to be true, and there was no damage in shipment. Two of my cans, however, had very small dents which existed prior to shipment (they were located toward the middle of the box). I think Baby Wuv Inc. should do a better job of inspecting their merchandise before shipping, since parents are advised by formula manufacturers not to use damaged cans.

The cans of formula are all factory sealed and have not expired. I do wonder how Baby Wuv acquires them, however. A “case” is simply a number of cans that Baby Wuv ships together. The “case” itself is not factory sealed, as I had hoped. The cans are not all from the same lot, and sometimes have differing expiration dates. I also wonder about the fluctuating prices. When it comes to something as important as baby formula, I want to know that I’m purchasing from a trusted source who stores and handles it properly. It would be nice to see more information about the company, including photos and perhaps some testimonials.

Overall I had a good experience with Baby Wuv Inc., and would recommend them to anyone looking to save money on baby formula. Their customer service is wonderful, which made me feel comfortable as a repeat customer. Although I prefer to buy my formula locally to avoid the shipping process, Baby Wuv provided savings that I desperately needed, and the ordering process was straightforward. Ordering by the case is also a great convenience when it’s difficult finding the time to leave the house to shop.

If you have ordered from BabyWuvInc.com, I’d love to hear about your experiences! Please leave a comment below to help other moms make an informed decision.

hmmm… sounds like they possibly do resales. there is a store near my mother’s house that resells items that have been rejected from stores – stores that have been in fires/floods/etc or merchandise that is damaged. that would explain the fluctuation in pricing.

  2. Jen Spends says:

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking too. I read somewhere about a delivery guy who sells formula on eBay that he gets for free because if one can in the entire box is dented, all of the cans are rejected by the store. I suppose there’s no point in letting perfectly good cans go to waste, but it would be nice to know exactly where it comes from!

Formula is such a ripoff. It’s almost never on sale, and coupons are rare. I wish somebody would do something about that.

I also used Baby Wuv Inc and had a good outcome with my shipment, I would definitely use the company again, I saved $5 on each can of Alimentum.

  4. Jen Spends says:

Thanks for the feedback, Jen! I’m glad to hear it worked out for you.

I have used BabyWuv , bought 18 cans , they were all in good condition.

  6. Janet says:

I am planning on ordering Alimentum for the 1st time this coming week, and am so glad I found this review on the company. Makes me feel better about ordering.
thanks to everyone who wrote a review.

I’m so glad it helped you Janet! I hope you have a good experience ordering from there too. Good luck!

Ordered a formula six-pack from them. The containers all look thrashed with dirty container tops. The factory seals are broken on 5 of the 6 canisters. They charge a 15% stocking fee so that means I’m out of 20 bucks for nothing.

  9. Jen Spends says:

Yikes Maria…so sorry you had a bad experience with them :( What I would suggest is taking digital photos of the canisters and mailing them to the contact email address provided on their website. I received a full refund for my broken cans, no questions asked, and I did not need to send anything back to them. It’s a health and safety issue, not a satisfaction issue – babies fed formula from broken cans could become very sick. This company needs to be much more vigilant about how they package and ship their items. Please be sure to contact the company if you haven’t already so they know what happened.

Yea it’s true! Babywuvinc is really accomodating. I called their customer service just to track my order. They looked up my order, told me the exact date I would receive it and even told me that I received the tracking number by email, which I did, where I could track my order myself. I received my order on time in excellent condition. I will continue to purchase from this merchant.

I’m officially in love with Babywuvinc. Their prices match any other merchants I have looked at. I receive all of my items, and they especially treat their existing customers exceptionally. I have had experience where I called in with questions and concerns and Babywuvinc assured me I would be taken care of. I certainly was immediately. I love the free shipping. I love the website. It’s made my life alot easier.

I have ordered numerous of times from babywuv, spent $1,000+ (I have twins) with no issues. However most recently I ordered 2 cases (12 cans) of formula and diapers. Only 6 cans arrived with the diapers. The box wouldn’t have even held 2 cases of formula along with the diapers. When I contacted customer service about the missing case – they told me to “look harder in the box” ??? UNBELIEVABLE! They have yet to satisfy my order and I appear to be out almost $100. Needless to say I will never order from them again.

Thank you so much for your comment. You are helping other moms make an informed decision. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. Hopefully they will take note of your comment and make good. If not, I would encourage you to file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau, http://www.bbb.org You might also try emailing BabyWuv. When I did I received a response from the owner (but perhaps things have changed).

I am beginning to question whether I want to throw my support behind this company anymore. I would feel awful if people were treated badly by a company that I recommended to them. I have respect for businesses that want to help parents save money, but if you are going to rip them off or treat them in a rude manner, then my support is gone. I also find it highly unscrupulous of any business to post FAKE comments on a website gushing about the company. Those two comments that I marked above were posted from an identical IP address, which coincidentally traces back to the city in which Baby Wuv is based. I may be a “mommy blogger” (ugh, I hate that label), but I’m not stupid!

  13. S Phillips says:

I wanted to update my 1/15/2010 post about babywuvinc. After a few days of going back and forth with customer service, the company DID fulfill my order and send me the missing case of formula. I am grateful as every penny counts when you have a baby (let alone twins!) :) I didn’t like how they dealt with me but I am satisfied with the final result. I haven’t decided if I will change my decision about ordering from them again — they do offer a great savings…

  14. Jen Spends says:

Thanks so much for coming back and updating us! I’m glad everything has worked out for you.

I have been buying formula from Baby Wuv for almost a year now, and I had not had any problems with them until yesterday when I received my order and was 12 cans short. I ordered 18 cans of formula, but I only received 6 cans! I sent an email to them and hopefully, they will respond ASAP.

    • Jen Spends says:

Sorry you had trouble Leesha! Hopefully they just divided the order up into separate boxes and you’ll get the rest soon. If not, make sure you’re persistent with their customer service!

  17. Elaine G says:

I have started ordering from them two years ago when my son had to use AR Lipil, which was very hard to buy in bulk. The single cans can get costly and use save few dollars getting it in bulk. And I’ve had no problems with them, have been getting the shipment in good condition, complete, fast. And now, I’m using it for my second baby, she uses the Regular Enfamil, but since they’re shipping it for free, I might as well order the diapers, wipes, etc, and save me a trip to the store. And they’re still sending it to me in good condition and complete. Although I do wonder how they are able to get it cheaper? Hmm.

  18. Janelle says:

I used babywuv and was thrilled with the savings and product. They shipped free to my door and I saved a substantial amount from going to the store. I’d use them again.

  19. Mama Pi says:

I came across Baby Wuv while doing a search for discounted formula, having never heard of them, I continued to search their name and happily came across this blog. After reading the many reviews, I decided to take the chance and place my order. I ordered 6 cans of formula and am happy to say they all arrived this morning in perfect shape. I do have to say that they could use a lesson in packaging because there was hardly any packing material in the box. I can see why others have gotten damaged merchandise.

  20. Jon says:

Half my order from babywuvinc had stickers saying: “This product is intended for sale at, if found elsewhere, please contact …” I called to inquire; the product I got from them was stolen from another store! At least that explains the good prices…

If they stole it, what else happened to the product? I don’t know where it’s been or how old it is. I would steer clear of babywuvinc.com!

    • Jen Spends says:

Very interesting. Did they literally admit that it was stolen??

    • Ali Camille says:

Please steer clear of this company. I’m sorry but the sales manager doesn’t answer the customer service number but he said he ran the place. Then when I asked to speak to someone else it was the same guy that got back on the phone acting like someone else. Shady.

  21. Mike Casey says:

I ordered $100+ worth of pre-mixed formula from babywuvinc, and it came very quickly and it was a good price. However, I am a little suspicious of the formula because it was from different lot numbers, was very dirty, some of the bottles were dented and it looked like some stickers had been removed from the front. (No telling what those stickers were…) I can’t take a risk with the formula and I am going to send it back. I will update you as to what they charge me to send it back.

    • Jen Spends says:

Thank you for commenting, Mike! I would definitely feel uncomfortable using the formula under those circumstances. I hope returning it isn’t too much of a hassle for you.

  22. Mike Casey says:

To follow up, babywuv credited my credit card a few days after they received my shipment. Because I ordered the pre-mixed formula, it was very heavy and expensive to ship back to them. There is a restocking fee, so between that and what it cost me to ship back it was somewhat of an expensive experiment.

    • Jen Spends says:

Thank you for the update. I’m glad they refunded you, but it’s unfortunate that you had to spend money shipping it back. I hope you’re able to find a good alternative soon.

  23. Carrie Geary says:

I just received my order of Nutramigen AA from babywuv. I ordered a case of four and all four cans are factory sealed and from the same lot. They were also packaged pretty well, using the plastic air filled bags instead of packaging peanuts. So hopefully they have corrected the problems the others stated above. Although I didn’t receive a receipt with my order which I need to turn in to my insurance company. I contacted the owner, but have yet to hear back from him. . . .

    • Jen Spends says:

Thanks for the update, Carrie! It’s been quite a while since I’ve had any experience with them, so it’s nice to know they’ve worked out for you. Hope everyone else is having positive experiences too.

  24. Ali Camille says:

I had a horrible experience with Baby Wuv and would recommend staying far away from this company if you want good products and customer service. My baby had to go without Nutramigen AA because we didn’t receive the shipment from them. I called customer service and the guy who answered said he was the sales manager (yea right). I asked him why UPS informed me that my order was canceled and he said because they didn’t have it in stock. So after waiting 5 days for my order I had to call the company to find out why it was canceled and they in turn said they could do nothing to help me. My baby had to go without AA because I had to reorder from another company which took another 8 days. I will never order from this company. They were very non apologetic to me and it was a very bad experience.

    • Jen Spends says:

I’m sorry you had a bad experience, Ali! I know Nutramigen is so expensive, so I hope you’ve been able to find a good alternative to this company.
