Advertising dishonesty at NoMoreRack

NoMoreRack has taken the internet by storm, and for good reason. Each day they offer a slew of deals on in-demand products at (purportedly) deep discounts. Like other similar sites, the deals are available for 24 hours, or until they sell out. And they often sell out, very quickly. They send out an email shortly before the new deals go live, so you can see what will be coming up, and can prepare to click and buy before other frenzied shoppers snap up the items you want. Shipping is a very reasonable $2 per item. It sounds great, but between the low prices (which often seem too good to be true) and occasional glitches, many people have wondered if NoMoreRack is a scam. Having successfully ordered from NoMoreRack a number of times, I can report that it is indeed a legitimate deal website, but that doesn’t mean I like everything about it.

Although I have seen some genuinely good deals on brand name products and I eagerly look forward to seeing the new deals every day, I have been immensely turned off by the dishonest advertising tactics in use at No More Rack. Here’s an example from today:

I checked the “Live in 10 Minutes” email that I received from No More Rack and saw that they would be selling Invicta watches for 90% off. Holy cow! Invicta watches? As in, one of those pricey brands I see advertised in high-end magazines?

Well, not so fast. Turns out they are actually “I by Invicta” watches, a much lower-end collection from the posh watch manufacturer. While they are probably perfectly good watches for the price point, they are a far cry from “real” Invicta watches, and most definitely not worth the $495 retail price that No More Rack cites on their website and bases their 90% off claim upon. Quick research elsewhere on the web indicates that these watches go for between $80-100, meaning No More Rack’s deal is about 50% off at best.

Yes, that’s still a good deal if you’re in the market for a lower-end Invicta watch, so what’s the problem? Well, I have changed my shopping approach over the years to be all (or at least mostly) about quality. Retail pricing is very often an indication of the quality of the product, from superior fit and craftsmanship to better materials and functionality. I am over wasting money on cheap products that last for a while when I could invest in a good, reliable, and somewhat expensive item that lasts forever. So, I take exception to No More Rack telling me that I am buying $495 quality when I’m really not. Paired with a well-known brand name, that inaccurate pricing is especially misleading.

This is hardly a one-off example, either. I’ve been following No More Rack for a while now, and have seen this “strategy” used over and over again. In another watch example, they claimed their $10 women’s watch deal was really worth $74.95, even though the going rate for the same exact watch (with tacky fake dials) was $24.99 at Target. Sometimes researching the true value of No More Rack offerings is difficult because they substitute a generic description of the item for the actual brand and item name. Why retailers are allowed to inflate regular retail prices in order to sell a deal is beyond me.

By advertising deep discounts, No More Rack is able to move a lot of merchandise that isn’t selling very well (and for only slightly more) elsewhere.

I know people who have enjoyed their purchases from NoMoreRack and, like I said, there are some great deals occasionally. Is NoMoreRack a scam? No, I wouldn’t say that. But as with any deal, don’t automatically believe the hype. Do your homework before you buy.

  1. I love this phrase: I am over wasting money on cheap products that last for a while when I could invest in a good, reliable, and somewhat expensive item that lasts forever.

I too have shifted to a more quality-based approach. It requires more of an outlay initially, but hopefully pays off over time.

Im glad someone else feels the same way.

Great sleuthing on this watch scam. There is so much hype out there, we have to be careful.

  2. Jen Spends says:

My epiphany came after I allowed myself to splurge on two items from Banana Republic (back in my working days): a charcoal grey wool sheath dress, and a black wool pencil skirt. Both items fit like a glove, and I never knew that wool could be so fine as to not feel scratchy. I wore those items over and over again and they still looked amazing after two years. I finally had to donate them because I lost weight and they no longer fit. I learned that you get what you pay for, and that realization has helped me ever since! I still depend on great deals, but brands are more important than they used to be.

  3. Andrea says:

I’ll add here too – this is one reason I love Gymboree Clothing for my boys. I buy it for my oldest son who will wear it now for a year or more, and then I know it will last through my second son wearing it for a year or more. If I ca get it on clearance – I’ve just payed the same price as Wal-Mart but it will last more than 6 months. Quality at a great price is what I love! :)
And thanks for the info on No More Rack..I’m a little sketchy about them for other reasons…

    • Jen Spends says:

Yep, it’s so worth making the investment! People say “they’ll only wear it a few months”, but I like things to last, and I am saving everything in case I have another little boy someday. I buy most things online, and by combining sales (usually clearance) with coupon codes I am able to get good quality name brand clothes for the same price if not less than Walmart and even thrift store prices. I don’t get any hand-me-downs, so I’ve had to buy everything new, but it’s fun hunting down the deals.

  4. afeya says:

I have made maybe 10 purchases from them. i used to let the THRILL of getting a bargain get to me..then i took a step back and noticed the stuff I was buying. I bought a pair of boots for $12 and they are every cheap and not even work $12…

  5. Rivkah says:

I’m a nomorerack shopper, too, but quickly caught on to the things you mentioned above. I checked out some of their offering on other sites, and found them for the same or lower sometimes than the nomorerack discount price. I’ve gotten some truly great deals from them, but judicious shopping is needed. :)

  6. Pamela Duff says:

Wow! Thanks for doing the legwork hunting all that down! I am new to Nomorerack and I do LOVE it, but I have probably bought a few things frivolously. I probably didn’t get quite the deal I thought on a few as well. I am starting a new business of Women’s Fashion Accessories and Jewelry and reselling these, hopefully, for a small profit and to help grow the business :) I will research my future purchases so I KNOW it’s a great deal and I can at least recover the cost :)
Happy to have had the opportunity to participate!

    • Jen Spends says:

Thank you for commenting, Pamela :) I’ve enjoyed a few purchases from No More Rack as well, but not everything is worth the hype. I think everyone makes a few mistakes when they’re first starting out.

  7. denise says:

Yeah, I just noticed nomorerack is selling a transformers blendy pen book for 9.99. Which – whatever, but they say the regular price is $50? They are counting on no one looking and assuming they are getting a great deal. This same book is on amazon for 6.99. I can’t believe they say it’s a $50 value and is discounted like 80%? That’s just flat out lying. It’s on sale today…

  8. June says:

Have you noticed that the “stuff” is not selling out like it once did? I bought a couple of things and did not like any. The purses are called “vegan leather surface” From my observation this is a catch pharase for cheap looking plastic….sorry, I hate plastic hadnbags

    • Jen Spends says:

Yes, I’ve noticed that. I think people are starting to catch on that most of the stuff they sell is junk and the savings aren’t what they claim.

  9. Shanna says:

I’m glad I stumbled across this. I’ve never actually purchased anything from No More Rack. I signed up because of the free credit they offered and I’ve gotten a couple of referral items from them. Yesterday, I received a cute bracelet for referring email addresses and another day, I got a pair of earrings. I looked at some of their items and thought to myself, “Wow those aren’t half bad!” But I wasn’t even paying attention to brands or thinking about the quality of the items. Luckily, I usually do my research before purchasing from any company. I was unaware of No More Rack’s dishonestly. Thanks for posting!

    • Jen Spends says:

Thanks for visiting, Shanna! I have purchased a few items from them and have been pleased, but you just have to do your homework first :)

  10. Amanda C says:

NoMoreRack shopper here and i have to say i wish i had stumbled across this blog earlier.. i have been a victim of NMR’s crappy service so much so that i ordered a bracelet for my wedding 3 months prior to the date only to be contacted a week before my big day sayig that they were back ordered but finally agreeing to give me my money back. I keep telling myself to stay away and stop ordering as i have had 3 incidents that have all turned up the same and i have had to wait to get my money back and/or lost credits that i used on my order due to it not being available. I really believe that when you use credits they automatically deny your order. What started out as a great site for me has turned into a headache that i try to avoid…

  11. June says:

I have a feeling that no more rack, will be no more before long. They no longer sell out of products, like they once did. I just wonder why more complants about them have not ssown up on the web.

  12. Mark says:

Yeah, you’ve got to be careful with deal sites, especially this one. However, the example you use with the Invicta watches is actually more of a function of Invicta than with NMR. Invicta is notorious for having inflated MSRP’s on all of their watches, not just the “I” series. However, inflated MSRP’s seems to fit NMR’s marketing plan perfectly though.

  13. Gtandma NeNe says:

I purchased a few items from NO MORE RACK in February 2011. One of the items was broken, so I e-mailed them and was told ro send it back and I would receive a refund of $20.00 on my credit card account. They “LIED” and only gave me a credit for my NO MORE RACK account of $7.00…it wasn’t for the correct amount.I tried numerous times to have this problem resolved to no avail. It is now June 25, 2011…I just called them again and I was told I would see a $20.00 credit on my credit card in 3-5 business days. WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP that company is. “HEED THE WARNING”…”DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!” The merchandise is GARBAGE for the money and they are a very dishonest company. I will buy “NO MORE CRAP” from them.

  14. Casswoman says:

I, too, bought something from nmr and did not get what I expected. I purchased a handbag and what they sent me was a wallet. WTF? I am going to email them about it (just received it today) and give them one opportunity to correct this, then I will bring up false advertising and have my attorney (husband) send them a letter. This could be a class action suit given their apparent reputation….

    • Amanda says:

I also, received the $28.00 wallet instead of the Lucky bag valued at $115.00. I would back you in the law suit for false advertising. They said they would refund my money and let me keep the wallet . But I don’t want a wallet I want a purse, that’s why I ordered it.

    • Jen says:

Wow. Sounds like they have sunk to a new low. I hope both you ladies are able to get this resolved to your satisfaction. It’s sad that so many people have found this post because they’ve had issues with this company.

  15. NOLA says:

I ordered a Liz Claiborne handbag some time back and was pleased. However, the sandals I ordered lost one of the large embellishments on the second wear. Not sure it’s worth the hassle to return it.

  16. dee says:

I did what most people have done, bought impulsely. I realized it after I hit the submit key. I checked the price of that invicta ladies watch and found it only a $10 difference somewhere else, I then checked out the I-phone car charger for $10 and found I could get it on amazon for $3.23. I was very upset, I requested them to cancel my transaction, which they did. The next day I received an email saying that they would give me a credit on my NoMoreRack account. I said, no you will not, I immediately called my credit card co, who called them and could not get a straight answer as to whether I would get a credit to the credit card account. thankfully, Bank of America is all over it, and I should have no issue getting my credit either from NoMoreRack or Bank of America. Buyer be ware.

  17. melanie says:

I am getting concerned about the purchase I made. I had a coupon code that gave me 15% off my purchase plus the $10 credit so I got a flip camera for $53 which seems like a great deal since I found it to be the cheapest for $70 on amazon. I hope that they don’t try to return my order or anything like that. I assumed they were an honest company but of course searched the prices of Flip cameras before I ordered, I just hope I didn’t get screwed, my mom and I both ordered one for $53. ahh!

    • Jen says:

Don’t worry yet :) I have ordered a couple of things from them and got a particularly great discount on a watch (I know, ironic since I am bashing their watch advertising, but sometimes the deals are good). Sometimes it can take a while for them to ship. I hope everything works out ok for you – Flip cameras are great!

    • Daniella says:

I did the same thing, same deals/codes and all getting it for $53 and so did my mom. My mom’s showed up a few days ago and so I decided to check online for the status of my own. When I checked my order history, under order status, it said “failed.” I was shocked and confused as my order had gone through and confirmed and the money was charged. After seeing this, I double checked and saw that I had indeed still been charged. I calmly e-mailed them but no reply in 3 days … so much for their self-proclaimed great customer service and 24-hour reply … I’m getting VERY nervous (that being said, my mom’s arrived as described and in a timely manner, so the site seems very hit and miss!).

    • Melanie says:

Daniella, I did the email customer service and it took them forever to reply and didn’t answer my question so checked up on my order every two days on live chat so I could get answers, luckily we both did get our flip cameras, I hope it works out for you too! I just got mine yesterday. Def do live chat their email customer service sucks.

  18. Gina Chatterson says:

I too ordered the guess purse and got a wallet!! I have had orders cancelled….orders missing items….orders never show up….credits not given…refunds not given…and so on! I keep hoping they will get it together and they just can’t seem to get things straight!! I am on a first name basis with the owner (his name is JR). Here’s what you have to know when ordering from NMR. First, research the item price and see if it is a good deal. Second, make sure you follow your purchase in the order section of your profile…..if you have not gotten the item in two weeks call them. At this point…if I have not gotten my item I ask JR for a credit because it is taking so long. They will do this! If the order was cancelled because they are out of stock (they never let you know this unless you call)ask for a REFUND of the purchase price plus 2.00 shipping AND ask for a 15.00 credit for the hassle. They will do this too! When and IF your order arrives make sure it is all their (like if you purchased two items). Often they will forget an item or be out of stock of the second item and like I said before if you do not catch this they will never tell you. I never speak to the reps that answer the phone anymore…I go straight to JR and he will fix things the same day. Soooooo if you are willing to do the above….go ahead and order….otherwise….stay clear!

  19. Elizabeth says:

I think no more rack is not as popular as it once was. In the beginning things sold out in seconds……..no longer so. I was so disapointed in every thing I received.

  20. Alexandra says:

Thank you so much for posting this! :)
I am a student in college, and I too have learned this lesson a long time ago. Now I am very careful before I jump in & make a purchase, especially on websites like Nomorerack.

I believe their strategy is the same as the one stores use (Tjmaxx, Marshalls, etc), “consumer surplus” – trying to make us believe we’re getting a great deal because the actual price was higher than what we actually pay. The only problem is that consumer surplus should be the difference between what WE would willing to pay & what we actually pay.
So my advice is to not get caught into the excitement of getting a huge discount and really research the product first.

Also, I agree with the idea of paying more for greater quality; just make sure that product is in fact good quality.
I’ve noticed that after doing some research a few times I can tell which is a great deal & which is not a lot easier now than I used to in the past.

    • Joe D says:

I purchased two Invicta watches and less than three months wear on both watches, one fails to keep time and looses hours a day, while the other one is defective due to a very large piece of glue or adhesive that has broken off the watch dial.
Each watch costs $25 to send in for warranty. So the total would be $50 for both watches…which basically adds up to almost the price of another watch.
Two watches should not fail in less than 3 months. I have emailed Invicta to ask for either a discount or waiver of the warranty fees since both watches failed in such a short time. That was three weeks ago…no response whatsoever.
Next, I called “customer service” and I use this term very loosely. I was put on hold for over 30 minutes. When I finally was able to get someone online, all I got for my troubles was to have my call transferred to another person who was not there.
I left a detailed voice message and a contact number. Guess what? No one has returned my calls.
I feel that Invicta does not stand behind its products, rather, they hide behind a wall of phone reps and a horrendous call waiting period probably in hopes of the customer giving up and going away. I was not one of them.
It is evident that although Invicta has a large market for its watches, it has no intention of providing any resemblance of customer service or quality control in its products.
I would appreciate it if everyone would post this up in as many watch sites as possible to put pressure on Invicta to not only address this severe problem of ignoring its customers, but to also have better quality control on its products.
I am totally dissatisfied with Invicta’s lack of customer service, and even more appalled at the shoddy products I received in my purchases from them.
Not everyone buys its high end watches that cost upwards of $500 or more. But Invicta’s lack of care for its low end line speaks volumes about just what sort of company it is.
I am not disputing that things sometimes happen in production. What I am concerned about and frustrated about is the seemingly lack of response and care for a legitimate problem that I have encountered with its watches.
Ignoring your consumer base is the first step in getting a bad reputation and the resulting effect of bad publicity and eventual slowing of sales.

    • Jen Spends says:

I’m sorry for your trouble with the watches. The fact that Invicta attaches such ludicrous MSRPs to their products says a lot about the kind of company they are.

  21. Rose says:

Thank you so much for this information. I always appreciate people who are willing to point out these things. It’s really hard to find a trustworthy discount site. They always seem hit and miss, which is a shame.

You make an excellent point about buying higher quality. My grandmother taught me to buy nicer clothes. She would buy a few higher end fashion staples every now and then, and I never saw her throw any away. At most she would give them away because she no longer wanted them. I also watched my mother buy our family cheap items thinking she got a great deal. We always needed more because they didn’t last. I remember a pair of shoes from Payless lasting less than a week! And even with food, I can’t count how many times we bought the cheaper brand and it tasted so awful we couldn’t eat it and threw it out. Why spend more over time, and for that matter, never get to enjoy it because it isn’t quality?

  22. kristie says:

I totally agree. I’ve noticed this going on on that website and the other websites like it, such as 1saleaday and bens outlet. It irritates me to no end when I see an item on sale for “90% off” some ridiculous price they’ve come up with. I remember seeing an 8 mp camera for like $40 and it was down from $350 or something crazy. My phone has a better camera than that! I was so mad. I’m definitely careful about being taken advantage of on these websites. I hope everyone pays attention to things like this so they don’t get ripped off. Thanks for writing this. I hope everyone pays attention.

  23. LG says:

Sadly it seems the whole world’s advertising model has denigrated to always feeling it necessary to lie to the buyer to get them interested in a product. Now more than ever the old adage is true :”If it looks too good to be true, it probably is a lie”. No one is going to go to all the trouble and expense it takes to set up and operate a business in order to “give” you things. They are in it to make money, one way or another. A few are actually fair and honest. Then there are all the rest. I like seeing when these charlatans get exposed for what they really are doing.

    • Jen Spends says:

“No one is going to go to all the trouble and expense it takes to set up and operate a business in order to “give” you things. They are in it to make money, one way or another.”

This cannot be said enough! Thank you.

  24. rosie says:

Ah, critical thinking is always key. These days many are looking for a bargain and who can blame them. Yet, we must hold back our impulse and do our homework. Thanks for a great post.

    • Jen Spends says:

Thank you, Rosie. As I always say, “You’re not saving money if you’re wasting it.” That’s why I look for quality when I make purchases.

  25. carl says:

The real problem comes from peoples perceived need to constantly purchase new/different stuff. We have a shopping addiction in this culture, and it is this addiction that is feeding dishonest sites such as we spoke of here. If you really want to make sure that you do not play into these predatory type sellers, do not go shopping for that which you do not need. I am not talking about living a minimalist life style, but alway think to your self, do I need this? need can come from many things, and not just from a need to survive, so dont take me too literally or you wont ever even watch your TV. But, just because you are shown a great deal, even if it is a great deal, does not mean that you should buy. If you were not currently looking for that exact item right now anyway, than just dont buy it.

    • Jen Spends says:

Thank you for weighing in, Carl! You bring up some great points, and your “think before you spend” approach is part of the reason I decided to write this post in the first place. I saw lots of other bloggers (who personally benefited) breathlessly promoting this site’s deals each day and making people feel like they’d be missing out if they didn’t buy this or that. I wanted to put on the brakes and make people THINK! Focusing on quality also plays into your philosophy–if you buy something built to last, you will be happy with it longer and you won’t need to replace it right away.

  26. RJ says:

Thanks for sharing this Jen! More people need to do THEIR HOMEWORK before they buy something. For example- Ebay sellers often sell cheap knock off’s of a iPod. But if the shoppers had done their homework, they would have realized that the product wasn’t from Apple. Rather it was knock off. (If that makes sense.) What I’m trying to say is, don’t just buy whatever on the internet. Do your homework! ;)

My parents raised me to use my money wisely. And even though I am know earning my own money, I still use it wisely. And I rarely ever buy anything if I don’t need it. Like Carl said, just because it’s a great deal, it doesn’t mean that you need to buy it!

Like I have found out the hardway, on the internet most of the time if it seems like a AMAZING deal, the product probably isn’t all that great. Whether that means that the quality of the product isn’t the best, or the product is a cheap knock off.

  27. Tony says:

    Two things:

If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

You get what you pay for.

  28. Misty Roberts says:

The same ol’ term if it sounds to go to be true it normally is – I do not look at the brand on anything! But either way there are certain things on this website that I have priced out at stores and I’m still getting a better deal from the site.
Either way I’m saving money on certain items.

  29. George says:

The real thing to watch out for is any perception that you can’t get such a deal elsewhere. For example, I bought a wireless photo/dvd viewer from nomorerack.com for $38 including the shipping. According to nomorerack.com this was (I don’t recall the exact numbers) $35, down from the normal price of $120. Yes, this item sells for $100 – 200. It’s $100 at Best Buy. Yes it was the best price I could find on the Internet. BUT… the next best price I found on the Internet was $40 including free shipping.

And as for their “Insane deals”… they state that these can appear anytime during the month, seperately or all at once. The FAQ section states that these are “beta for November”. Now go to blackfridayinfo.com and you will see an ad that reads “Black Friday 52″ LCD Television $59, limited supply.” Sound to me that nomorerack is planning to “randomly release” those insane deals as the site’s black friday doorbusters.

    • Jen Spends says:

Thank you for weighing in, George! Yes, you’re right – there are other sites selling a lot of the same items at similar prices. People who get wrapped up in the urgency of the sales aren’t always getting the best deal. I’m glad that in your case you got the best price you could find.

  30. Janet says:

On the nomorerack website I had selected “View Deal” on one of their purple insanity deals and repeatedly received a response that “Deal is not available”. It took over twenty minutes to wait for a “Live Chat” operator and when I finally was connected I was told the insanity deal product was sold out eventhough they didn’t give a sold out response. Then I was told they just haven’t had time to update their website. So much for their advertising, insanity deals and customer service availability.

  31. Nancy says:

Glad I did a google search on nomorerack before getting sucked in! Thanks Jen for what you are doing. Also good to note the part about having spent $99 without knowing it when signing up! Just like advertising for health items and meds on TV, DO THE RESEARCH. Many times you are buying more problems because advertisers can get away with a LOT of untruths and take advantage of unsuspecting people who don’t even know that they can actually lie!

  32. Casey says:

Then Amazon is guilty of the same thing. I just looked up an I by Invicta watch on Amazon and they quote the retail as 495.00 and they are selling it at 60.00 with a claimed savings of 435.00 (88%). Maybe some of the “I” watches really are worth more than others. (maybe not).

    • Jen Spends says:

You’re right – Nomorerack is not the only retailer that does this. I wrote about them specifically in response to all the hype I was seeing on other blogs at the time, but there are many retailers who do the same. Overstock.com is being sued by the state of California for using phony retail prices. Do your homework no matter where you shop!

  33. freechoice says:

My wife got fooled by a 5.00 perfume order which turned out to be a monthly order of 80.00 worth of perfume she could have bought at any perfume discount stores at premium outlets for around 60.00 but the monthly order kept going auto shipped was the worst part…when you sign in your visa number watch out… I contacted Visa and they say the company I had to call them to cancel the monthy orders…what a scam for 5.00…

long story short I called the company and said I would advise all the credit card companies etc and complaint forums…it worked got a refund and cancelled the monthly shipments..buyer aware

  34. vicci mills says:

Nomorerack appears to be a sham. I caught 3 “insanity deals” ( ipod touch, ipad and the new kindle ) In all three instances I had the item in my cart (twice for the kindle) and was ready to pay when…….all of a sudden, the site froze. The message I was given was, “tech error……then please try again….then….this item is gone”. In fact if you check their facebook page, you will see nothing but people with the same stories.

  35. bkind2paws says:

I have a different story to tell. I’m still upset about this one. We purchased a camera at another “deal site”. Before we spent the money, we researched and found the price to be much lower than the going prices at retail and big box stores. We bought the camera for $279. Three weeks later, it was on Nomorerack for $82. Needless to say, after my primal scream (which continues to this day), I was convinced that Nomorerack was legit. That’s just our story and we still shudder at the thoughts.

  36. Crystal says:

I haven’t bought anything off nomorerack because I’m trying to spend less, especially on items I don’t need. But they had 4 iPhone screen protectors for free + $0.99 S&H so I decided what the heck, it’s only $0.99. Problem is, they said it was shipped out in October and it’ll take 21-30 days. Well, it’s been almost 60 days and I still haven’t gotten the item. So I say that at least for their cheap “Free” w/$0.99 S&H deals are not a deal at all since they don’t seem to ship things out. The tracking # is perpetually at “Shipping information received” instead of “Item shipped”

I’m not too thrilled with NoMoreRack either. I ordered my first product (a blue tooth) in late October, finally arrived in Dec. It was only $8 including shipping, so I didn’t expect much. Took 20+ tries to pair with my phone, then wouldn’t accept or send calls. Ordered a “freebie” cord wrap with 99cent shipping charge, MSRP was $10….finally arrived all in the same little padded envelope & if these things cost more than 1/2 cent I’d be astounded! Did get one 1/2 way decent blouse, but MSRP according to them was $30…not a bad blouse, but similar to something I could grab in WalMart for the same $9 I paid & not have to wait for shipping. Ordered some led bike lights in early November, still waiting for them…MSRP was $30 each…with shipping I paid $9 for all 3, similar to what I paid on another site, but I’m STILL waiting for them to arrive.
Ordered a sudoko game that Gave MSRP of $29, this arrived quickly for them, but is like a $2 item from a bargain toy bin at the dollar store…& I paid $8 with shipping.
I’m also waiting on a pashmina that I ordered at the end of Nov, but I’m concerned because now on my order page it shows a picture of a sweater instead of the pashmina, even though it does SAY pashmina in the written portion.
I contacted their customer service and got a personal reply (as opposed to the usual form letter/canned response)the next day, but all it said was to give the delivery another week and recontact them (about the bike lights) but said NOTHING about the faulty blue tooth or the picture conflict about the pashmina.
They’ve gotten the last of any money they will see from me, and just have my fingers crossed that I finally get the final 3 items I am still waiting for!!

I agree completely. Marketing has had the leg up on consumer’s a long time by stirring our emotions and making us feel we are getting over on them, when really they always get over on us. It is brilliant because unfortunately it feeds into our egos. I am guilty of impulse shopping at times, but you are exactly right-you are not saving money wasting money. Great post!

So true! Well written!! I have watched NoMoreRacks.com for months now, and have yet to find a real bargain. And, when I do, I found even though it does not show on the front page sold out, it actually is. Plus, I have NEVER seen the “Insanity Deal” pop up – only that it had been at somepoint that day. I also have a problem with a credit that is supposed to be in my account, that is nowhere to be found. If you take a minute before adding the item to your cart, you will find that their prices really are higher than elsewhere. I almost bought an item, then searched and found it cheaper online. The item I did buy took 4 weeks to get here. Poor, poor, poor. NoMoreRacks really isn’t the deal they say they are. Don’t waste your time – or money! Kmart’s blue light specials are better!!!

I purchased a $100 voucher for $20 for a NuMe hair product. The problem is that you can only use the voucher at one specific website. This website has the products at double what they go for at the mall. So in order to use the voucher and recoup your money, you end up having to pay about $50 – $75 more . So $100 and 3 weeks later, you’be saved a grand total of DRUM ROLL, PLEASE!! $10.

i think you just have to be cautious. ihave ordered items and they were fine… and a good deal. i had to contact customer service with a question about one of their items and they promptly answered, within minutes! i have no complaints, but i’m rather new at it. maybe they’re getting better??

  42. Leah says:

Tonight they are showing a Sylvania 10″ internt tablet they claim retails for $479.00 for the price of $143. Funny…Amazon.com says the retail price for the exact same item and model numbr is $199.99 and they sell it for $190.75. Sounds like someone isn’t being totally honest here.

  43. Lisa Jensen says:

I ordered a set of queen sheets in navy. I received full sheets in brown. I emailed them right away and they responded rather quickly. They sent the correct sheets and told me I could keep the incorrect ones at no charge!

I recently purchased 11 headphones (I go through those things fast) from nomorerack. They were shipped within 2 days of my purchase, and arrived 10 days later… at the wrong address. They sent it to my billing address, not my shipping address. I was very upset because it is a 2 hour drive there and I’m not old enough for a license. I payed 40 flat for 180 worth of products. For me, the quantity on that deal was too much to resist, so I did some research on the main pair, and found them doable. As for the spare 10, I was thinking, screw it. If one breaks ill use a off pair. This instance has been quantity over quality. I will update this post when I actually use the headphones.

Has anyone bought electronics from NMR?

  46. Susan says:

Linda, I have ordered two electronics with them, quite satisfied. But cautious from now on because I had the misfortune of being charged twice. I bought a ring, did not like it, returned it, was told I could order other items to replace it with but was charged again for the replacement. I am in between emails with them and my credit card company. They have a screwy billing system that smacks of a way that they can just take their money and not have to look back. I don’t want anyone to be in that situation because the way it looks right now they are playing a sleight-of-the-hand game. By the way, they are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Please double check their policies on refunds and keep records of the emails and any communication you send. Keep records of names, too. They have offices in New York and California, as far as I know. Good luck!

I am trying to get my money back from nomorerack because I can’t get them to ship the items. I’m at a loss as to what to do next. It’s not a great deal of money, but I want either my money back or the items. Any help out there from you guys?

    • Jen Spends says:

I’m assuming you have already contacted their customer service. If that hasn’t worked, then I would contact your credit card company to dispute the charge.

  48. Chris says:

I am glad I found this site as I was considering ordering from them. I am VERY sceptible when it comes to shopping on line but I would like to know where some good sites are as it sounds like a person can save quite a bit of money shopping online if done right. I am also wondering about coupons and getting samples for “free”? I don’t like to give my email out normally and again am very leary as I have been the victim of identity theft and I know there is a lot of fine print, that I don’t often undersatand all of it, when it comes to websites. Thanks for any help you can give.

totally agree.. and in another two recent cases.
Advertise 1600 Egyptian Sheets at 29.00 regular 129.00 they are selling polyester microfiber sheets and hoping the bargain hunter will think they are getting 1600 count cotton… the lie is the $129.00 regular price.. JCPenney and Ocean State job lot routinele sell microfiber sheets at $10-15 .. 1/3 to 1/2 the price that Nomorerack claims is a savings.
Advertise Luxury Faux Fur Australian boots… at 20 dollars regular 120… the boot they send are made in China and are complete junk notn suitable form wear outside the house.. and not worth $20 IMO..

I ordered what was suppose to be Ugg boots from them back in November 2012. It is now February 17, 2013 and I still don’t have my boots. They have no Customer Service. It is Customer No Service!! I think NoMoreRack.com is a rip off and a very disreputable company. Caveat Emptor!
